Vacation Part III: Day Three
Day three started out early. Really early. I was dead asleep (sugar plum visions...) at 3:00am when all of a sudden our sister in-law opens the bedroom door. It must have caught my attention because I subconsciously knew that we were the only ones in the house. I was instantly 40% awake. Just enough to be receptive. Kim's exact words were: "Lynnell, your mom wanted me to come tell you that your Uncle John has died."
It wasn't the greatest news. Especially at 3:00am. However, it didn't come as a huge shocker. Lynnell's uncle had a rare form of MS, and he had been getting progressively worse. The week before he had gotten sick, but he was just starting to do better by Friday. The real bummer is that we didn't have time on Saturday to go see him. I know Lynnell wanted to see him early on in the vacation so she could say hi. Unfortunately, she never got the chance.
We did our best to go back to sleep. When we rolled out of bed, we took our sweet time to get ready to go up the river. Lynnell's dad and mom own property up the North Fork of the Coeur d' Alene River. It's beautiful, and we love going up there. Here is Lynnell and her Mom. Lynnell has Izzie and Shirley has Irelynn (Mike and Kim's baby girl... Lynnell's brother and his wife... I mentioned Kim as the bad news barer earlier).

Not much happened all day. We just hung out down by the river. I swam and floated in the river. Then I laid out in the sun for a while. Then I went in the river again...sun...river... and so on. It was wonderful. Izzie slept all day... well, with the exception of feeding time.

That night we headed to Spokane to stay at my moms house for a few days. Here's a picture of Alan, my step dad, holding Izzie for the first time. (We had just pulled her out of the car seat, so she was still waking up.)

That was day three. It was the first day of relaxation. I can't say that it was total relaxation. Our drive to Spokane was frustrating. I had to drive Derek's car back to mom's house (he obviously couldn't), so Lynnell had to drive the van and Izzie by herself. When we hit CDA, Izzie started screaming for food. Lynnell made it to the rest stop just before Post Falls. We pulled over there and hung out in the van for 30 minutes while Izzie ate. I felt really bad for Lynnell. I could tell that she was frustrated that she had to drive. Sorry hon.
Day 3 was good.
On another note; Here are some pictures of me and Izzie witting this post. She's so cute!

Izzie also had a family reunion on her first vacation, with her Grannie, Great Grandparents, Great Aunts, and Great Uncles, and lots of cousins. Every one thought she was beautiful and I was very proud of her.
Love Grannie
