Random August 2008 Pictures
Thought I'd share some of the other August pictures that didn't make the cut for other posts.
When we got home the first week in August from vacation in Idaho we arrived to find that our three week old sod had turned into a miniature rain forest. Come to find out our friends who had been keeping an eye on it actually had mowed it once while we were gone. Imagine what it would have looked like without that!

Then there was the laborious task of mowing it. Turns out that 9" grass doesn't mow well, and bagging it is even more ridiculous. I tried bagging the front yard (what you see in the picture above, but after five full bags of grass (which filled up the garbage can) I gave up on bagging. I had to raise the wheels as high as they would go for the first pass, and then two passes later it was at a reasonable height. I love mowing grass... ESPECIALLY THREE TIMES!!! But I'm glad we have a yard now.

Izzie also discovered how much fun grass is. She still plays with the clippings that get sprayed onto the sidewalks and patio. I don't know why, but they are just so intriguing.

Here's a back yard and front yard picture that shows just how much better our yard looks with grass.

Izzie certainly has become the little mobile person. She routinely enjoys exploring every nook and cranny in the house to see what's new. Here she is coming out of an end table recon mission.

Nell was in a friends wedding on August 10th. Here's Izzie and I hanging out waiting for everything to begin.

There's Nell look'n beautiful in her smoke'n red hot brides maid dress.

Here's a morning picture. The syrup on Izzie's face got there because she was licking it off of the plate after she ate all of her french toast. Messy, but cute.

Izzie managed to find an old binky in her closet in a box, and when she came out of her room to show us she was laughing about it for some reason. She took it to mommy to show here, and then she came over to me to show me how great it was.

Saturday mornings in July, August and September are filled with visits to the farmers market here in Billings. It's actually a fairly good one for the size and demographic of Billings. Here's Izzie checking everything out while mom is off buying vegetables somewhere.

Nell always gives me a bad time because I never post bad pictures of myself (It's my blog!), so I thought I should put this one in. It's not as bad as some others, but look at my face. I can't figure out what I was thinking when this picture was taken, but it must have been weird. I would argue that this look portrays the way I feel when Izzie wanders over to me and holds out her arms because she wants to sit on my lap. It's fun.

Here's another one of Izzie playing in the grass clippings. She's pointing to her ear because she learned that she hears with them. When I would get close to her with the mower she would point to her ear as if to say "it's loud."

Here's one I'm posting especially for Grannie. She called to chat with us and Izzie. I took this one while she was talking to Izzie. It was great because Izzie loves pushing buttons on the phones and watching the pretty lights blink, but we don't let her play with them. She enjoyed listening to Grannie talk to her, but refused to say anything. I think she gave a few grunts. When it came time to say good bye, Izzie simply waved at the phone.

Here's Izzie sitting in her sweet princess chair that Grandpa and Grandma Longley got her. She is finally big enough to climb into it herself, and does she think it's great.

Thanks Grandpa Chuck and Grandma Shirley!
