Izzie's One Year Shots

Yet again I choose to display the child torture that our government forces us to put our children through. I don't know why I'm doing it again because it's always the same thing; some alcohol wipes, some needles, a few small holes, maybe a little blood, a couple of band aids and of course... A LOT OF SCREAMING!

Here we are practicing weights and measures.

Let's not forget that the doctor always has to warm his stethoscope up on Izzie's chest and back. (Internal monologue: "maybe I should invent a stethoscope warmer to just keep them warm so that doctors don't have to use their unsuspecting patients.")

"Oh good. She still has her brain then. Thanks for checking!"

Here, once again, is THE TRAY OF DEATH! (Isn't it so neatly arranged? Fabulous!)

I think I'm learning to love the few minutes just before Izzie gets her shots because Nell goes into this weird mode where everything is funny and her face gets flushed. She tells me that it's because of the anxiety and depression that she's experiencing because her baby girl has to go through something that she doesn't want her to go through. I'm guessing there is some adrenaline involved too. Me? No. I just like to take pictures of it all.

Although, I will say it is kind of a sad thing. We work hard to make Izzie happy so that she doesn't frighten the other children in the next state with her banshee wail, and then when she's at her happy place BLAM! the nurse stabs her in the leg.

Then the screaming starts and birds start migrating early so that they don't loose their hearing.

Then we have to hold her tight and reassure her that it's for her own good.

When we leave the room we walk to the front desk to tell them that she loved it so much that we'd like to come back in six months to do it again. "What's that? You can get us in? Wonderful! Oh yes. We would like to book it now! What's that? Co-pay. OK! Anything for this much fun!"
