Montana Fair 2008 (AND POST #100!)

YESSS! Post number 100!

Every August the fair comes to Billings. We missed it last year because we had a new baby, and being new parents we didn't want to tackle that obstacle. This year was different though. We went, we saw and we conquered.

First we toured the booths in the pavilion. You know what I'm talking about. The booths where the guy is selling knives via a mini bullhorn that makes you want to smack him in the head. Or where you find some young guy trying to sell pellets for pellet stoves, but he isn't doing his job because he's too busy texting his girlfriend about how bored he is. Yeah, those booths.

We kept up the pace and rushed through because we were on a mission. We wanted to show Izzie the animals. She loves seeing animals. I came home today from work and Lynnell told me that they watched part of Doctor Dolittle (not the new crappy one; I'm talking about the good one with Rex Harrison from 1967) and that Izzie was ecstatic to see so many animals. Anyway, back to the fair. Here we are checking out the pigs.

Then we moved on to the goats and sheep. Here's Izzie laughing at the goat as it bleated in her face. She thought it was the greatest. But! She refused to touch them. Every time I tried to get her to touch it she would wimper and whine.

Next we moved on to the cows. I don't know if it was the size or what, but she just wasn't as fond of them. Every time they mooed her eyes got big and she kind of got clingy. I walked closer to them to see what she would do, but she just clung closer and tighter.

Here's Nell and Izzie as we checked out the Budweiser Clydesdales. I'm pretty sure that Izzie was ok with us being that far away though. The bummer thing is that it was too far away because she definitely lost interest in them before she even got engaged.

Here's Izzie watching the Cobra Coaster as it bumped and rolled around the rickety track. I really wish that I could have known what was going through her head because she seemed to enjoy it.

We walked around for a bit more, ate some fair food, people watched and just enjoyed ourselves.

Then we noticed that it was getting very packed and very busy. Makes sense I guess since we picked the buy-one-get-one-free admission night. So at about 9:30 we decided to call it a night and go home. We had fun, and even though Izzie will never remember the night I know that she had a blast.
