October 2008

It's been a while since I've posted, and I couldn't decide if I should split this post up or not. I decided not to, so I hope you're comfortable.

Izzie is finally big enough to wear her robe, and she loves it. She thinks it like a super suit or something. When she gets it on she runs around pulling at it and pointing at it. It's the greatest.

First weekend in October was the Rock the Vote event here in Billings, and we went. We got there early so that we could avoid the drunken partying later in the evening. Here's Lynnell and Izzie as we walked downtown.

And here they are enjoying lunch at the Brew Pub. For some reason Izzie thought that the lemon was delicious even though she got the sour face and shivers every time she got a big taste of the juice. It was funny.

We also had some friends get married that same day (Oct. 4th). Best ceremony ever; I think it was about 8 minutes start to finish. That's how they should all be. Here's a couple pictures of us hanging out while we waited for the ceremony to begin.

We ended up waiting longer for the ceremony to start than the ceremony lasted, but I wasn't complaining. Then it was off to the reception. They had it at the Sunset Bowling lanes here in Billings. No, we didn't bowl; it was held in the basement of the building, and it was fun. Izzie discovered that you could see through the plates, and inadvertently kept smashing the plate against her face. It was very cute. Then people started doing it to her and she got the idea of what was going on; her face looked funny. So, then she started doing it to make funny faces. Such a smart baby.

Pictures with dad and mom:

On the 8th I took off from work early so that we could drive over to Belgrade to see my mom and some friends of the family that she was over there visiting. We had a lot of fun hanging out with everyone there for the day, and it was more than good to catch up with some old friends. Here's Izzie having fun on the drive over.

Here's the Iz with Grannie.

And that's it. I thought I took more pictures, but unfortunately I didn't. Bummer.

On Saturday the 11th we woke up to snow. When I got Izzie up, I put her over by the window so that she could see it, and she just stared out the window pointing and talking up a storm.

Sunday we woke up to a record snow fall: 22" overnight (Red Lodge got 68" the same night). So we packaged her up in the normal snow gear so that she could head out and see what it was.

Of course I beat her out there to clean off the sidewalks and driveway, but I didn't have a snow shovel. So here's me laughing at Lynnell because she's making fun of me using a broom to move the snow.

Then I went to clean the snow off of the vehicles with my broom, but ended up breaking the broom on my car (racecars are built tough). So about the time I was crawling into the van to go buy a snow shovel the neighbor lady popped her head out of her house and said I could borrow hers. What was funny is I hesitated knowing that if I borrowed her shovel I would feel obligated to shovel her driveway and sidewalk too. Then I though "she's older anyway. I should be doing that no matter what." So, I happily accepted the offer and shoveled both driveways and about 120' of sidewalk. Afterward, I was glad I did because it felt good to serve my neighbor.

Here's Izzie exploring the new world.

She didn't go far because she didn't know what it all was, and every time we tried to get her to touch it she would whine. Eventually she realized that she wasn't on the verge of death and ventured down the driveway to see what I was doing.

Then towards the end of the outing she decided that it was safe to play with on the porch, so she kicked it around and wiped it off of the table.

Here's a random picture of us shopping at Costco.

Here's another random picture of Izzie being dang cute. I like it because it shows off her morning bed-head (plus she has the best smile).

If you scroll back to the top and check out the first picture of us at the wedding ceremony you'll notice that Lynnell is sitting next to one of our friends that just happens to be pregnant. Well, they had that baby on the 18th, and lucky for Izzie, it was a girl. Now she'll have a friend to play with. Here's Chris; a very proud new daddy.

That was Saturday when Izzie and I went to see them. Lynnell was out of town that weekend getting a new haircut with a friend, so we went back on Monday night so that Lynnell could see the baby. Here's Nell (with the new hair cut) and Izzie.

And that was about it for October. There's still a couple of days left, so there might still be more pictures to post.
