The Day Before Izzie's First Birthday

Well, Izzie finally turned one on June 27th, 2008. All anyone says is "time has gone by so quickly" and I would have to agree. It did go by pretty fast, but when I think about it, it wasn't as fast as everyone makes it out to be. I mean, we did a lot in the last year, and I don't really think that this year went by any faster than any other year. So while I agree that it seems to have gone by fast, it's no different than any other year which means that it went by at the normal pace.

I did learn a lot in the last year, and I have definitely matured a little bit. I guess becoming a father will do that to you. I'm not going to lie; being a dad is the greatest. I have a blast with Izzie. We hang out all of the time, and everyday when I come home from work she starts chanting "Dada! Dada! Dada!" as soon as I walk in the door. It's great.

I'll get down to business. Since my friend had my camera for two weeks in Israel I couldn't wait to take pictures of Izzie once I got it back. After all, she learned to crawl in that two week time period, and she nearly started walking. Here are a few pictures of Izzie the day before her birthday.

Here she is banging away on her music-table thing. Amazingly she still loves this it. I thought for sure that it would have gotten old by now (IT'S GOTTEN OLD FOR ME!)a.

Here we are taking pictures of ourselves and then looking at them in the camera screen. She loves it.

Here's Izzie taking a few shaky steps towards me.

Here's Nell and Brandee untangling balloons after they got tangled up from the car ride.

Here's a couple of videos of Izzie giving the crawling and walking thing a try.

Sometimes when she tries the walking thing she falls forwards and just hangs out like this until she can figure out what to do next:

I had to get a cheesy picture of the birthday supplies:

And of course... the cake.

I'll stop there for this post since it's already too long (yeah I know that hasn't stopped me in the past). Hopefully I will post the birthday pics soon.

Miscelaneous June Pics

There were a handful of pictures that I wanted to post from the beginning of June because they are fun... mostly.

Here's one of Izzie sleeping sideways in her crib. It's become the norm now that she's much more mobile. We often walk in to find her standing in her crib bouncing up and down.

Here's another great thing: Izzie can feed herself quite well now, but like any other baby I've seen, she gets it everywhere. Here's a ridiculous picture of her with a prominent eyebrow and a mustache. For some reason she looks like Mario to me. Weird I know.

Here's a couple of good picture that show what kind of mess a kid can make with food. I mean really, who has to itch half of their head when they have spaghetti in their hand? Obviously my child does.

My last post was about Nell and Izzie's trip to Idaho. Well, before they left I cleaned the van for them (because you can't go on a road trip with a dirty car), and Izzie hung out in her car seat and watched me vacuum for a while. She was most intrigued, but when the big black hose monster got close or tried to suck her feet off she wasn't happy about it. I imagine that it was the same kind of scream that I would let out if someone chopped off one of my hands (or both). I thought it was funny, so I did it a few times hoping that she would realize that it wasn't going to suck her inside out. It didn't work. Even when I showed her that it wouldn't suck me up.

Later when it was time for a nap she seemingly forgot that I let the hose monster attack her, and she fell asleep on my chest. It's pretty rare that this happens anymore, so when it does I enjoy it to the fullest (or at least until I get the hebejebes).

Anyways, that's it. I just thought I would throw those up. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures for the two middle weeks of June because I let a friend borrow my camera for his trip to Israel. It kind of bums me out, but I think I'm more glad to have been able to help him out. Luckily he got back a few days before Izzie's birthday, so I do have pictures and video of that.
