More May

May is almost over, and Izzie is almost 11 months old. It's driving Lynnell and I crazy that the little turd won't crawl. She walks around on stuff just fine, but she refuses to crawl. If you put her on her stomach and leave her there she just lays there and looks around. Occasionally she spin herself around to look at you if you are talking to her, but she won't even budge a muscle to try to crawl over to you. I wish they made some kind of shock collar or medication that made kids crawl.

Here we are playing video games one Saturday morning.

We met a friend at one of the malls in Billings for lunch one day. We got there early, so with time to kill we walked around for a bit and ran into some other friends that were playing on the indoor park. As Nell chatted with them I took Izzie over and put her on the big purple dinosaur (no not that big purple dinosaur). She didn't quite get it, and being afraid of holding onto it didn't help. She almost fell off while I was taking one of the pictures, but I caught her about 1/3 of the way to the ground. We called it a wrap after that.

One day we decided to head to a pet store to see how Izzie would react to all of the animals. We already know that she's apprehensive about dogs and cats, so we decided to experiment (or rather acclimate). Here she is checking out a parrot.

Izzie still likes to see herself in the camera screen. We probably took 20 pictures of ourselves like the nest one, and she laughed at everyone like it was the first time she had seen it.

Here's a couple of videos of Izzie learning how to use her little walker thing. These are from the earlier weeks of the month, so she's come a long since then.

Mother's Day Numero Uno

Nell's first Mother's Day was a big hit despite me having a bad weekend and not being on my A-game.

She really wanted a membership to a gym (the Y), and she got it. But I wasn't satisfied because we got it nearly a week before Mother's Day, and it was a family membership which technically disqualifies it as a gift. So, I decided that I needed to do something else. What gift goes along great with a gym membership? An MP3 player of course. Duh! So, I got her an 8GB Zune (since she got me Zune for Christmas). Now she can enjoy her Y membership to the hits of the 80's.

April 2008

I didn't post many pictures for the month of April, so I'm left with catching up now. I don't know when I'll learn.

Izzie still digs the Jumperoo, but I can tell that it won't last long.

In an attempt to do something with Izzie's crazy and untameable hair, Nell bought her some head bands. They are pretty cute, and Izzie thinks she's a super star when she wears them. Then she seems to get bored with it and rips it off and then chews on it until it's dripping wet with slobber.

Here's Izzie and I exploring the closet to see what we could find.

We found a hat and scarf, and Izzie made them both look good.

She's getting more used to being on her stomach and rolling around. She usually lasts about a half hour until she wants to do something else. SHE STILL REFUSES TO CRAWL!

Mornings are still great.

While at WalMart one day, we spotted some sweet sunglasses for Izzie. Of course, we couldn't resist having her try some of them on.

Nell discovered that Izzie is very disturbed by stuffed animals larger than she is. She's ok with small ones, but if it's bigger than she is it's evil. She gets all tense and holds her breath. Then she grunts like she's been constipated for 4 weeks. It's hilarious. She does the same thing around real animals. If they are bigger or close to her size, she doesn't want anything to do with them.

Another morning (yeah, I like them).

One day we were down town and decided to go grab coffee. Here's Izzie sitting in a chair and hanging out with us.

Of course we play all the time. Izzie is becoming a lot of fun. She's exploring and figuring out how things work. She studies objects, feels them and finishes her testing out by tasting it. She is learning so fast it's great. Here we are hanging out playing with some toys.

Here we are watching another Baby Einstein video.

As I said before, Izzie doesn't want anything to do with animals (real or fake) that hare bigger than she is. So, one day Lynnell took her over to one of our friends' house to meet their new puppy. Nell said Izzie did a little grunting but not much, and she seemed to tolerate it just fine. Maybe she's starting to come around or maybe she's just ok with small puppies.

Here's me with the luck of the draw on a nasty diaper. I still don't handle it very well. I don't care if it's my own child or not, it's still someone else's poop, and I don't want anything to do with it.

Are you ready for this? It's another morning. She's so stinking cute. I think these (as in the morning pictures in this post) pictures represent every weekend in April. HA.

Izzie is finally used to mom wearing sunglasses. She doesn't freak out like she used to.

Izzie and dad hanging out looking at pictures of ourselves as we take them.

Here's Izzie in her car seat ready to go. She knows what bye-bye means now, and she loves it. Every time we get ready to go somewhere she picks up on it and starts getting excited. It's the cutes thing.

You guessed it; another morning. Only this time she's still sleeping.

Remember the elusive teeth? Well, I got a good picture of them. Now we are working on the top ones, and they are just about through. Soon she'll be chewing on even more stuff and scuffing it up with her razor sharp baby teeth.

Last item: Izzie says: dada, mama, up, bye, hi and a few other words less often and probably with luck. I'll try to post about all that soon.
