IT'S A GIRL!!!!

Yep, you heard me right.

I'm really excited. When we called everyone, it seemed like people were a little hesitant to ask if I was excited. I think they all were secretly thinking that I would be disappointed if it was a girl. Well, just for the record, I'm not! I think my brother may have been a little disappointed, but I can never tell. Although, he did reassure me that Lego does make sets for girls ... and they are pink.

So, then it came time to pick a name. We (that means I) have had a boys name picked out for quite some time now. It would officially be Joe #4 since I'm Joe #3. With that said, I've never really thought about girl names. Frankly, it's kind of weird to try to think of girl names from a guys point of view. I think it's because in my head I associate certain names with certain people, and they aren't always good associations.

So, I told Lynnell that the name was her department. Then she broke down and wanted to know why I didn't want to have a say in my daughters name. I back tracked a little and explained my point of view. She informed me that it's as much my responsibility as it was hers.

After weeks of deliberation, we finally found one. Izadera Kay Cote. Nell is pretty excited because she wants to call her Izzie. She has even bought big wooden letters and painted them so that they can be hung up in the babies room (I'm assuming so I won't forget her name).

  • Throughout your life, we’ve been apart and you’ve never really known me or your cousins, our children except for Erin; perhaps I’ve missed that opportunity but life comes along, as you are learning; your world changes forever, and you must look ahead and make day to day decisions and with these, sacrifices happen.

I decided to take the opportunity to say how proud I am in the both of you for how far you have come and you have done this together. You are doing things right and God has blessed you with a perfect little baby girl to love, to care for, who will forever alter the course of life for you as has been done since time began.

There will be days when it’s over whelming and these never stop, they just become farther occurrences in between and I am pretty sure it’s just that way in life with children.

Babies are so very special, they are gifts created in dependency - when you look at their little toes and fingers and face, they feel that sense of peace from you that only God gives us as adults when we come home to Him, that we forget we’ve had all along as babes.

Izadera Kay Cote, a name for a little one who will have a mind beyond her years. Ah, the challenges for one so wise beyond her years, your hands will be full. God will show you to be perfect parents to grow with her and nurture this wisdom. But most of all, you will be the parents after our Father’s heart because already He is the center of your life and as such, be blessed and multiply.

May God watch over you, protect you, and continue to smile upon. I pray for wisdom in parenting, the leap of faith to ask for help when you need it, and the discernment to help you through those times when you can’t figure out what to do. God will only give you what you are able to handle and this is His way of blessing you for a job well done, and then life begins.

    Loving you both,
    Aunt MJ
